Following years of isolation and internal strife during the 1970’s and 80’s, the country has slowly rebuilt its infrastructure, the wildlife in the parks is recovering and Uganda is now emerging as a destination delightfully unspoilt by mass tourism.
The country is blessed with a stunningly beautiful and varied landscape, from the tropical splendour of Central Uganda to the dry savannah of the West, add to this the dramatic array of lakes and rivers and the occasional sighting of the six snow capped peaks and three glaciers of the mystical Mountains of the Moon where excellent mountaineering and hiking opportunities are available. Uganda is well worth a visit.
Uganda hosts some famous and well established game parks such as the Queen Elizabeth, Murchison Falls, Kidepo and Semliki parks, amongst others. Currently the most popular park on a controlled daily permit basis is the Bwindi (Impenetrable Forest) National Park due to its habituated Mountain Gorilla population. The park has become well known for Gorilla tracking. Uganda is one of three countries in the World, where Gorilla’s may be tracked, the others being Rwanda and Burundi.
Tourism in Uganda is still not developed enough to support scheduled flight safaris to cover the long distances; however, apart from road safaris, charter flights are available.

NOTE: Please enquire about the cost for The Express Travel Group's 10 day safari, and our special interest activities such as the Mountain Gorilla Tracking Safari, Ruwenzori mountain trekking, White Water Rafting on the river Nile and Bird Watching Safari.
