A SPECTACULAR PAGEANT

"At a thousand water holes, flung like diamonds across the vastness of the Serengeti, life is given. And, as the lengthening shadows stretch themselves into the single shape of night, it is taken. For this is the time of the predator. Not the casual opportunism of the lion. Nor the mockery of the hyena. This is the moment of the true hunter - the leopard - a dappled flash of fluid power, so stealthy it seems the savanna itself has melted, only to coalesce before its prey in a single, deadly second." - Jeremy Doveton-Helps
The Migration Safari promises you a ringside seat for what is indisputably the greatest wildlife show on earth - the crossing of the Serengeti plains of hundreds of thousands of wildebeeste, with accompanying plains game such as zebra and other varieties, plus predators such as lion, cheetah and leopard in attendance. Join us to experience this show of a lifetime. |

Day 1: Tarangire
Depart from Arusha to Tarangire, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game viewing.
The park has almost a surreal look about it, because of the ancient 100-year-old or more Baobab trees dotted about the landscape, giving it a pre-historic look during the dry season when the trees have no leaves. It is an ideal place to see elephant, especially between July and October.
Overnight: Tarangire Safari Lodge.
Day 2: Lake Manyara
After breakfast a morning drive to Lake Manyara Park and a picnic lunch during a game viewing drive in the park. Famous for its tree climbing lions and herds of elephant, as well as sightings of hippo, giraffe and the pink feathered flamingo. The park has diverse ecological zones ranging from the rocky Great Rift Valley wall, a ground water forest, woodland, open grassland and swamp.
Overnight Kirurumu Luxury Tented Camp.
Day 3 + 4: Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast guided walk from Kirurumu camp with spectacular views from the escarpment across the Rift Valley, with a stop at a local village where the local witch doctor may be in residence. After lunch drive to Ngorongoro Crater for overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
The next day, after an early breakfast, descend 610 metres to the crater floor for a full day's game viewing with picnic lunch. When the warm rays of the sun clear the morning mist, the first glimpse of the crater is breathtaking. Once a large volcano, now a caldera (extinct volcano) it is a vast amphitheatre, 14kms/9miles across and a spectacularly beautiful Garden of Eden for huge numbers of wildlife, and a centre piece of the Serengeti eco-system.
Meals and overnight Ngorongoro Serena Lodge.
Day 5, 6 + 7: Serengeti
After breakfast, morning drive to the Serengeti National Park, unique for its annual wildebeeste migration. Afternoon game viewing drive and overnight at the Serengeti Serena Lodge.
The following two days of game viewing drives in the Serengeti according to the animal migration periods. The Serengeti is undoubtedly the most famous wildlife sanctuary in the world with its seemingly endless plains, rivers and fascinating rocky outcrops called `kopjes’ and where the highest concentration of wildlife ebbs and flows. The famous wildebeeste migration, rotate in their hundreds of thousands in a circuitous route seeking young blades of grass by following the rain patterns throughout the year.
